Our founder, David Hardy, and his son Dallin Hardy (Product Development Scientist on the Hardy Nutritionals® management team) manned an exhibition booth and also gave a presentation to a number of integrative health practitioners at the conference. Daily Essential Nutrients was a natural fit with the AIHM audience because of the rigorous scientific research backing its safety and efficacy for a wide range of mental health, mood, and behavioral disorders.+ * Nearly 75% of the AIHM conference attendees were integrative medicine practitioners, over 50 of whom left the conference with a bottle of Daily Essential Nutrients and the basic knowledge they needed to start using it with patients in their practice. Integrative health practitioners include physicians, nurse practitioners and other professionals healers who focused on treating the whole body using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
Most expressed dissatisfaction with the long-term results of medication use for mood and behavioral disorders, and they were fascinated with the opportunities that a well-researched natural alternative could provide their practice. David Hardy was invited to address two groups of practitioners at the conference, and both times he related how he first met Harvard psychopharmacologist Dr. Charles Popper, many years ago, and gave him a bottle of micronutrients to take back to his practice. David recalled how Dr. Popper was incredibly skeptical, though very kind, and out of courtesy he reluctantly took the bottle. David later learned that Dr. Popper did not believe that the micronutrients would work and he gladly got the unwanted bottle out of his office at the first opportunity, which happened to be the one week window between the first and second visits of an insistent colleague's ,bipolar child. In the first visit the parent insisted on giving the child at least something for the interim, and Dr. Popper insisted on following his careful protocol of never prescribing medications before seeing a child at least two different times a week apart. Based on the dramatic and unexpected improvement experienced by his colleague's child in just one week, Dr. Popper began to pay attention to micronutrient therapy. He has since treated hundreds of patients using micronutrients and he continues to recommend Daily Essential Nutrients to many of his patients. Dr. Popper tells the rest of his story in his own words:
Dr. Scott Shannon, accomplished integrative psychiatrist and founder of the Wholeness Center in Ft. Collins, Colorado, was a keynote speaker at the AIHM conference and was also featured in the Hardy Nutritionals'® presentations. Dr. Shannon, author of "Please Don't Label My Child", "Mental Health for the Whole Child", and "Parenting the Whole Child" was recently interviewed for a segment on Modern Living with Kathy Ireland® where he shared his experience using Hardy Nutritionals® Daily Essential Nutrients with patients. David and Dallin shared this clip from Dr. Shannon's interview with attendees at AIHM:
They were given a bottle of DEN along with resources to help them identify which patients would be good candidates for micronutrient therapy and to assist them in successfully transitioning their medicated patients from their drugs onto Daily Essential Nutrients. Since attending the AIHM conference, our team has been in touch with many of the attendees and we are already receiving very positive feedback. We are excited to see the incredible results of using DEN reinforcing for practitioners and patients alike that medication is not the only choice when dealing with mood and mental health diagnoses.
